I’m with you PC!

So, I may be alone in this… but I have had a change of heart about PC.  After the first episode I would have said that he was by far my least favorite person on the show.  I would have said that his dominant personality trait was “prick.”  He seemed superficially into fashion.  By this I mean that his interest in fashion was not genuine, but rather a ploy to make him seem cooler or more hip to others.  All in all I basically thought that he was fake and extremely smarmy.

However, after seeing the second episode I now see PC in a new light.  Allowing the show to film you in a therapy session was, in my opinion, very brave.  Not that I think that PC “needs help” but that is the connotation associated with someone going to a therapist.  This act has made me rethink my idea that he does things in order to look mas awesome to others.  No one who is overly concerned about what others are thinking about them would allow their therapy session to be filmed for all the world to see.  Even though the session did not reveal anything dark or deep, it was still a very gutsy thing to do.

Now, lets move on to PC’s need to end a life of casual sex.  I know in the podcast that I was making serious fun of PC for constantly talking about how he was over having casual sex like all the other kids in prep school, and I still maintain that it is hilarious how many times he felt the need to mention it.  However, if it is true, it is an admirable notion.  It does show a certain level of maturity on PC’s part (which at 18 it’s about time).  I mean, i was through with casual sex by 14… what took him so long.  All kidding aside, after the first episode I would have pegged PC for a real player.  Not in the amateur way that Sebastian is a player (”Hey, let me get your number”), but in a more mature way that still involved a steady string of ladies.  Though if his admonition that he wants a serious relationship is real I think it is worthy of some praise.

All in all, I think that what PC really wants to be is different.  He wants to differentiate himself from the “typical” prep school kids.  Whether it is by being a guy who is really into fashion or by not having casual sex.   However he chooses to do it I applaud it.  Being different is something we should all strive for.  Will I applaud next week, who knows.  This may be just another ploy by a talented bullshit artist to get us on his side.  Only time will tell, but for now I stand behind you PC.

despite being a student to one of the schools that has someone on the show, i would still have to agree with this article. not only agree i would take this and stretch this even more. i came to this private school from an international school, and was all of a sudden exposed to these who think that they “own” new york. they (for instance, PC) says that all of newyork is about money, power, etc. but in reality its not. in their world and spoiled lives newyork is about money, sex, clubs, and drinking but that is only limited to these kids living in this bubble of theirs on the uppereastside. and furthermore i can guarantee you that almost everything on this show is DEFINITELY scripted. PC is definitely not even capable of the lines he says on the show, he is indeed one of the dumbest kids at his school from what ive heard from people. and that girl camille is also in reality senseless, and they show that she gets almost a ‘perfect score’ on her SAT, believe me she is not capable of getting anything higher than 1500 on her SAT, because she is the most dimwitted and senseless girl. In conclusion, this show does show the general concept of these kids’ lives but in order to spice it up, they have scripted almost everything.

I get the feeling that PC is an extremely insecure guy and I think when he was saying he wanted a real relationship what he really meant is that he wants someone to care about him. Seriously, I can’t believe his parents are even letting him do the show (the footage of Mexico alone could stall his bid for state Senate in 2025)…
Granted the show is heavily scripted (this may be their attempt at the “poor little rich boy” sympathy grab) – or it could be PC’s own attempt at appearing “deep”… I hope for his sake it’s the truth and there’s more to him than designer clothes and a big trust fund.

OK OK. I may have been hasty in my previous thoughts of PC. He is not so bad, although I still don’t see much of a future for him.
